WordPress Plugins In Use

Finding the right plugin is essential for any WordPress consultant.  They help to deliver functionality without having to “reinvent the wheel”. There are several WordPress plugins that we use on this website that we use for our clients. For the benefit of others, here is a listing of each of the WordPress plugins what are in use.

Breadcrumb NavXT – When building this theme, we wanted to include a breadcrumb for navigation. We found it quicker to use a plugin and just include a PHP snippet of code in our theme.

FD Feedburner Plugin – Redirects the RSS feed URLs to a Google Feedburner link. Google’s Feedburner has more advanced options than WordPress does.

First Page Mobile Lite – For many web sites, having the first page detect and present a simple first page for mobile users is a great strategy. This plugin gives WordPress administrators an easy way to configure the mobile page.

GD Press Tools – GD Press Tools is a collection of various administration, database, backup, seo, maintenance and security tools that can help with everyday blog tasks and blog optimizations.

Google Analyticator – Adds the required JavaScript to your pages to enable Analytics with Google.

Google Analytics Dashboard – Adds a widget to the Administrative dashboard within WordPress. You can see basic statistics whenever you login to your site.

Gravity Forms – Easily create web forms and manage form entries within the WordPress admin.

List category posts -List Category Posts allows you to list posts from a category into a post/page using a shortcode.

NextGEN Gallery – NextGEN Gallery is a WordPress gallery plugin that offers sophisticated gallery management and displays. It’s one of the most popular plugins ever produced for WordPress, currently downloaded around 75,000 times per week.

NextGEN Smooth Gallery – An add on plugin to NextGEN Gallery that offers really nice “slide show” functionality.

Nivo Slider WordPress Plugin – Allows you to combine the beauty and elegance of the Nivo Slider with the robust and familiar content management of WordPress. Without touching any code you can create multiple sliders that can be included anywhere and customized using the familiar WordPress backend.

Ozh’ Better Feed – Your feeds, on steroids. Add a feed footer with a copyright, “Add to delicious”, the number of comments… Add anything to your feed.

pageMash – Probably one of the first plugins we have ever used, this one allows you to manage your multitude of pages with it’s slick drag-and-drop style, ajax interface. Allows quick sorting, hiding and organizing of parenting.

Redirection – Allows you to manage all your redirects, including the ability to set them up using regular expressions (potentially greatly reducing the management burden).

RYO Category Visibility – Alter the visibility settings for categories shown in the front page, sidebar.
